The tenth day or Vijayadasami is also the day of Vidyaramba or beginning of study when children usually begin to learn the alphabets. Hundreds of children have their first taste of the world of letters at temples, public places, educational institutions and newspaper groups who make elaborate arrangements for the initiation ceremony. The Vidyarambam ceremony mainly involves the master (guru) inscribing the invocation to Lord Ganapathi (Hari sree ganapathaye namaha) on the tongue of the kid with a golden ring and make them write with their right index finger the invocation in a bed of raw rice.
On the Vijayadasami day after a Puja in the morning, the Books and implements are removed from the room and this ceremony is called 'Puja Eduppu'. The time for the break up of the puja marks the beginning of learning and work.
