The police have arrested five persons, including a former nun, on the charge of running a sex-for-money racket centred on a Social Welfare Department authorised private home for the destitute at Kadhinamkulam.
The Circle Inspector said the police recovered a large number of contraceptives, porn magazines, two air guns and hockey sticks from the destitute home. He said there were 54 inmates at the home. The police sealed the institution on the orders of the local magistrate. The inmates had been shifted to other institutions.
The suspects would be produced before the court on the charge of violating the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act on Wednesday.
