360 women advocates in Kollam Bar

As the Kollam Bar Association celebrates its centenary, it also has to its credit women advocates who had reached coveted positions in the judiciary and political arena.Announcing the programme of the Lady’s day celebrations to be held on December 2 as part of the centenary celebrations, celebration committee vice-chairperson Jameela Ibrahim said there were 360 women advocates practicing in Kollam courts.

Kollam Bar had women advocates who became luminaries in the judicial profession. It was on November 14, 1950, that Justice Fathima Beevi enrolled as an advocate at the Kollam Bar. She became judge of the Supreme Court and was later appointed as Governor of Tamil Nadu.
