The Health Department will open seasonal hospitals at Pampa, Sannidhanam, Nilackal, Karimala, Erumely, Neelimala and Appachimedu in view of the annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku festival at Sabarimala that begins on November 16.According to the Health authorities here, cardiology centres at Appachimedu and Neelimala will be opened on November 15.
As many as 1,500 health-care personnel, including doctors and paramedical staff, will be deployed on special duty at Sabarimala during the two-month-long annual pilgrim season.
District Medical Officer N. Murali said four mobile medical units would be stationed at Pampa, besides 24 ambulances, during the festival season.
Indian Railways will operate 150 special train services during the Sabarimala pilgrim season. This was announced by Railway authorities at a meeting held here on Saturday to review the arrangements for the coming pilgrim season.The trains will have announcements in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu to help the pilgrims from outside the State.
The Kottayam railway station will have a special information desk in addition to a 24-hour police outpost.
