A local court sentenced K Arumughan Pillai, Deputy Manager, (EE & I), Ship Repair Operations, Cochin Shipyard Limited, to rigorous imprisonment for one year and to pay a fine of Rs 17,500.
While working as Deputy Manager, (Electrical, Electronics and Instrumentation), Ship Repair Operations, CSL, demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 3000 from the complainant as a motive or reward for placing orders on the company owned by the complainant for supply of 'max plus grade-III,' a solution used for cleaning electrical motors and armatures etc, to the CSL.
